About the Book

Ariston Dago is a sentry, a protector for his people. He watches the waters of his territory, keeping his god and his race safe both above and below the murky depths around Venice, Italy. When he’s compelled to save a human that falls from a transport, his life is forever changed, because the human he saves, Teagan Moss, is his mate, the first human to ever mate a Dagonite.

Teagan Moss is the kind of woman to shoot first and then question the body later. When she wakes with a Hydro bomb strapped to her body, she knows someone is going to pay for trying to kill her, and that she is going to need the help of the sexy exotic Dagonite to find out who exactly needs that bullet in their brain. What she doesn’t count on, is the scorching attraction she feels for the male who is so certain she is his.

Thrust into solving the mystery surrounding the attempt on his mate’s life, Ari and Teagan uncover more than the answers they are looking for, and the truths they unearth could send the world into another war.

My Review

” ‘Well where I come from that’s called first base, and I just don’t go any further without the threat to my mate lifted, or the very least dinner. But I like that you want me to.’ He winked. ‘So shall we go see about those weapons?’

Teagan scowled. ‘Let’s. I have the need to shoot someone.’

‘Bring it babe, that’s foreplay.’ “

This book had me at “Hello, here’s my blurb”, and imagine my excitement when  it turned out to be fantastic! I’m pretty much all in for stories of romance post-apocalyse, but this book was so much more. With it’s original fantasy elements, great cast of characters, super steamy sex, and action-packed plot it was everything I was looking for and more.

The world as we know it has been destroyed by humanity and is now populated by other races that are not quite human, and humans face rebuilding their society alongside these other beings. Teagan Moss is an ambassador, and though she is well-liked and respected among most races, hers is a dangerous job in these volatile times. That becomes abundantly clear when there’s an attempt on her life that is also an attempt to off-set any shaky world peace that exists. Fortunately, she is rescued. Fortunately for the reader, she happens to be rescued by the incredibly sexy octopus shifter (yes I said “octopus”; we’ll get to that in a minute), the warrior, Ari. It’s clear from their first moments together that there’s absolutely sizzling chemistry. I love this couple together. Strong and protective as Ari is, Teagan’s a bad-ass in her own right; no damsels in distress here. Their connection is laced with humor, incredible sex, and eventually, genuine love that has the potential to change to world.

Oh yeah, octopus shifter. I am aware it sounds a bit strange and I was a a bit skeptical at first, but you’re just going to have to trust me on this one. Sex with a Dagonite is HOT! I’m in love with this totally new and totally original brand of shifter.

I enjoyed this book, start to finish. The exciting plot moves quickly is is filled to the brim with action, humor, intrigue, sex, and romance. Even though the author has the difficult task of building a new world and introducing new races, technology, an political system, she accomplishes it seamlessly. I felt completely immersed in the world she created, even while the plot never slows. This book is a perfect start to a series: it has it’s own complete story and introduces a compelling cast of characters, and a it’s clear that a much larger plot is just beginning. I can’t wait for more of this series.

“The man was everything she had ever wanted, sexy, funny, accepting of who she was and what she wanted outta life. He didn’t try to shelter her; he didn’t try to control her. Ari loved her for who she was.”

*I received a complimentary copy of the book in exchange for a fair and honest review.
