About the Book
Title: Fixed on You
Author: Laurelin Paige
Release date: June 2013
Age Group: Adult
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Stalking and restraining orders are a thing of Alayna Pierce’s past. With her MBA newly in hand, she has her future figured out – move up at the nightclub she works at and marry the manager, David. He’s perfect for her because, although he’s attractive, he doesn’t get her all turned inside out and upside down like some other men have. It’s a safe plan, one that assures she’ll remain in control of her obsessive love disorder.
But what Alayna didn’t figure on is Hudson Pierce, the new owner of the nightclub. He’s smart, rich, and gorgeous – the kind of guy Alayna knows to stay away from if she wants to keep her past tendencies in check. Except, Hudson’s fixed his sights on her. He wants her in his bed and makes no secret of his plans to seduce her. Avoiding him becomes impossible after he offers a business proposition Alayna can’t turn down and she’s drawn further into his universe, unable to resist his gravitational pull.
Soon Alayna’s charmed by Hudson in every way possible and the control over her old behaviors slip. When she learns Hudson has a dark history of his own, she realizes too late that she’s fallen for the worst man she could possibly get involved with. Or maybe their less than ideal pasts give them an opportunity to heal each other and finally find the love their lives have been missing.
My Rating: 4 Stars
” ‘I’m drawn to you, Alayna. Not because I want to hurt you you or make you feel a certain way, but because your beautiful and sexy and smart and, yes, a little crazy, maybe, but you’re not broken. And that makes me hopeful. For me.’ ”
This is just one of those lovely books, where everything fits, everything flows. It’s a pleasure to read and get lost in for a few beautiful, warm, sexy hours. There’s conflict, strong emotion, tons of fantastic sex, flawed characters, difficult pasts, and questionable futures; but the overall book is an enjoyable ride.
So I’ll start with my highlights: Hudson. Extremely sexy, domineering, successful, damaged alpha-male hero. YUM. Oh, and funny and playful, too. He has so many desirable characteristics for a male lead, and he is made complex by the fact that although, as the reader you want to trust him, it’s difficult to discern whether or not he is truly genuine. When Alayna enters his life, she challenges who is is, or who he as decided he is. She a great female lead: the right balance of vulnerability and strength. I love that in spite of her past, and all of her self doubts, she has the strength to stand-up for herself and to better her life. She can be wishy-washy at times, and she rankled me a little when she became a little too neurotic, but I admired her ability to trust in someone else (Hudson), perhaps even more than she trusts in herself. Her trust (and love?) may be the only chance that Hudson has to move on from his past, and begin to heal. The connection between these two characters is undeniable, and the sex is super steamy.
I was desperate for this couple to make it, to find common ground and the confidence to take a chance on a real relationship. Their romance builds and builds and as I began to realize that the book was coming to a close, I was heartbroken; I simply did not want to let these characters go. Fortunately, though the book has a satisfying conclusion, there is the promise of more to come from Hudson and Alayna.
“I trusted him. In his words, in his actions, I felt fixed. I’d fallen into something that had nothing to do with love. Into healing.
And it was love too. If I could stand to admit it to myself, love was exactly what it was.”

About the Author
Laurelin Paige is a sucker for a good romance and gets giddy anytime there’s kissing, much to the embarrassment of her three daughters. Her husband doesn’t seem to complain, however. When she isn’t reading or writing sexy stories, she’s probably singing, watching Mad Men and the Walking Dead, or dreaming of Adam Levine. She is represented by Bob Diforio of D4EO Literary Agency.
