About the Book

Title: Fixed on You

 Author: Laurelin Paige

 Release date: June 2013

 Age Group: Adult

 Genre: Contemporary Romance

Stalking and restraining orders are a thing of Alayna Pierce’s past. With her MBA newly in hand, she has her future figured out – move up at the nightclub she works at and marry the manager, David. He’s perfect for her because, although he’s attractive, he doesn’t get her all turned inside out and upside down like some other men have. It’s a safe plan, one that assures she’ll remain in control of her obsessive love disorder.

But what Alayna didn’t figure on is Hudson Pierce, the new owner of the nightclub. He’s smart, rich, and gorgeous – the kind of guy Alayna knows to stay away from if she wants to keep her past tendencies in check. Except, Hudson’s fixed his sights on her. He wants her in his bed and makes no secret of his plans to seduce her. Avoiding him becomes impossible after he offers a business proposition Alayna can’t turn down and she’s drawn further into his universe, unable to resist his gravitational pull.

Soon Alayna’s charmed by Hudson in every way possible and the control over her old behaviors slip. When she learns Hudson has a dark history of his own, she realizes too late that she’s fallen for the worst man she could possibly get involved with. Or maybe their less than ideal pasts give them an opportunity to heal each other and finally find the love their lives have been missing.

My Review

My Rating: 4 Stars

” ‘I’m drawn to you, Alayna. Not because I want to hurt you you or make you feel a certain way, but because your beautiful and sexy and smart and, yes, a little crazy, maybe, but you’re not broken. And that makes me hopeful. For me.’ ”

This is just one of those lovely books, where everything fits, everything flows. It’s a pleasure to read and get lost in for a few beautiful, warm, sexy hours. There’s conflict, strong emotion, tons of fantastic sex, flawed characters, difficult pasts, and questionable futures; but the overall book is an enjoyable ride.

So I’ll start with my highlights: Hudson. Extremely sexy, domineering, successful, damaged alpha-male hero. YUM. Oh, and funny and playful, too. He has so many desirable characteristics for a male lead, and he is made complex by the fact that although, as the reader you want to trust him, it’s difficult to discern whether or not he is truly genuine. When Alayna enters his life, she challenges who is is, or who he as decided he is. She a great female lead: the right balance of vulnerability and strength. I love that in spite of her past, and all of her self doubts, she has the strength to stand-up for herself and to better her life. She can be wishy-washy at times, and she rankled me a little when she became a little too neurotic, but I admired her ability to trust in someone else (Hudson), perhaps even more than she trusts in herself. Her trust (and love?) may be the only chance that Hudson has to move on from his past, and begin to heal. The connection between these two characters is undeniable, and the sex is super steamy.

I was desperate for this couple to make it, to find common ground and the confidence to take a chance on a real relationship. Their romance builds and builds and as I began to realize that the book was coming to a close, I was heartbroken; I simply did not want to let these characters go. Fortunately, though the book has a satisfying conclusion, there is the promise of more to come from Hudson and Alayna.

“I trusted him. In his words, in his actions, I felt fixed. I’d fallen into something that had nothing to do with love. Into healing.

And it was love too. If I could stand to admit it to myself, love was exactly what it was.”

Book #Review: TRUTH (Finding Anna #3) by Sherri Hayes

July 31, 2013 Adult, BDSM, Book Review, Book Tour, Contemporary Romance 1

Truth large button

Welcome to the Truth by Sherri Hayes Book Tour! I’m so excited to share my review of the third book in this wonderful series.

About the Book

For the last two months, Brianna has discovered something she never thought she would again. Hope. After the horror of being Ian’s slave for ten months, a fate she never imagined she’d escape, it feels as if she is living a dream. She has freedom she hadn’t expected to have again, and she wakes up every morning not fearing what the day will bring. There is also Stephan. The man who saved her from the daily torture she had to endure at the hands of Ian and his friends. The same man who makes her heart race with just the thought of him. Life is good.

Outside forces are determined to conspire against them, however. When Brianna’s father shows up on her doorstep, it sends her world spiraling out of control. He brings with him new information about how Brianna ended up in Ian’s clutches, but will it make a difference? Will Stephan be able to find a way to make Ian pay for all he made Brianna suffer?

As Brianna and Stephan try to find out the truth, their relationship is tested. She is forced to face her past head on and deal with the ugly reality of what happened to her. My Review

My Rating: 4 Stars

“Feeling her body pressed to mine, seeing the trust in her eyes, was a high I couldn’t explain. Her trust meant more to me than any other gift I’d ever been given, and I hoped I’d never lose it. She deserved everything in life, and I wanted to be the one to give it to her.”

Since finishing Need, I have been anxiously awaiting this third book in the series, and I was not disappointed.

As in the rest of the series, Hayes tells the story from both Stephan’s and Anna’s POVs, and she does a lovely job. The characters’ voices are so clearly their own. There is no mistaking whether it is Stephan or Anna speaking, their perspectives are so distinct, and yet the story still flows smoothly. The prose is uncomplicated and inviting.

Anna and Stephan’s story is one of healing, trust, and perseverance. I’ve enjoyed watching their relationship progress through all three books, and until I looked back to the first, I had forgotten just how far they have come. The path has not been easy and it will continue to be difficult. In Truth, we see the relationship deepen, the connection strengthen, and the sexual chemistry heat up. Anna is no longer the completely destroyed young woman she once was, but still depends on the security and safety Stephan’s presence provides. What becomes much clearer however, is that Stephan needs Anna perhaps as much as she needs him.

I would recommend reading the first two books in the series before reading Truth. This is a relationship you will want to experience from the beginning. It’s sensual and kind, complicated and dark, warm and safe. This is a book of contradictions: can this strict Dom really be the one to continue to heal this broken young woman, and give her everything she needs and deserves, including the truth? I am anxiously awaiting book #4, the conclusion to Stephan and Anna’s story.

*New Release* Book Review and Excerpt: INDIVISIBLE LINE by Lorenz Font

July 17, 2013 Book Review, Book Tour, New Release, Romantic Suspense 3

Welcome to the Indivisible Line Book Tour! Read my review and an excerpt from the book…

Title: Indivisible Line

Author: Lorenz Font

Publisher: Renaissance Romance Publishing

Publication Date: July 16, 2013

About the Book

Pre-med student Sarah Jones is back in Beaver, Alaska, for summer vacation.  A loyal member of the Gwich’in tribe, she accepts the rules set by her father, the leader of their small town. Raised in a strict household, she learned early on to do what is expected of her and has agreed to an arranged marriage. Despite her reluctance to marry without love, Sarah is unwilling to defy her father’s wishes. She hopes to help usher in an era of independence and stability for the town, but for now, her focus is finishing med school so she can become Beaver’s resident doctor.

Business owner Greg Andrews wants to escape his philandering wife and his life in general. Leaving New York City to join a hunting expedition in Alaska, Greg’s plans are turned upside down when he is shot on Gwich’in land and ends up on Sarah’s operating table. In the absence of a qualified doctor, Sarah must operate to save his life. She refuses to wait for the consent of their tribal leader, and her father banishes her from the tribal land in punishment.

Grateful for his life, Greg concocts a scheme to help. Plagued by the side effects of her unconventional operation, he convinces Sarah to become his live-in nurse. Without the means to support herself, Sarah agrees to the questionable arrangement, but she soon finds herself in even more trouble. Her new problem is that she is falling in love with this infuriating man, and the choices she now must make are must more difficult than the simple act of saving a man’s life.

Together, Sarah and Greg must both decide whether they can overcome the vast differences between them, or if the indivisible line that separates their worlds will ultimately pull them apart.

My Review

My Rating: 4 Stars

Can two people from completely different worlds, each with their own host of problems and baggage, find enough common ground to build a relationship?

It seems impossible, but Sarah and Greg attempt to just that. In the midst of action and life threatening intrigue, emotional turmoil, and life-altering events, a very unlikely romance begins to simmer. The romance has an improbable start: a murder attempt followed by a kidnapping, events which left me questioning where this story could actually go. However, I was rewarded with a journey that made me forget the story’s questionable beginnings, and focus on the genuine connection between the characters. The author is able to create a very real romance between two very flawed characters, but something about it just works. They struggle throughout the story to overcome their individual circumstances and find common ground; I wanted them to work, to find peace, redemption, and happiness. All odds are stacked against them, and unforseen tragic events threaten to derail them at every turn, but still they fight, for themselves and for each other.

I enjoyed this thoughtful, emotional journey with its multi-layered plot and characters, surprising twists and turns, action and angst, and ultimately, its beautifully bittersweet conclusion.

“This was how she imagined love to be; sharing with the man you love. The truth startled her, but now she knew deep inside that it had been the driving force behind everything she’d felt from the moment she’d first met Greg. This was all she’d ever wanted; something close to a fairytale.”

*I received a complimentary copy of the book in exchange for a fair and honest review.

She blinked and pulled her hand back. “I hate nightmares.”

Sarah scrambled to sit up while Greg rose from his kneeling position at the side of her bed.

“I heard your screams, so I came in to check on you.” He watched her with a worried expression. “What got you all scared?”

She tried to remember but came up empty. “How can dreams turn you upside-down, and then leave you wondering what got you all riled up in the first place?” Blinking, she tried to compose her thoughts. “I can’t remember.”

“Do you want a glass of water?” Greg asked without moving from his spot.

Sarah shook her head and shivered, still feeling the effects of the forgotten nightmare. “Lie down with me?”

Why did she always end up speaking without thinking first? This was so wrong on all levels, but she was giving in to her heart’s desire. If it was a mistake, then she’d learn her lesson pretty soon.

Greg hesitated. She couldn’t blame him. He must know how she felt about him, although, she’d fought hard to keep her emotions hidden. Greg was far too beautiful for his own good, and she had been mesmerized by him from the first moment she’d laid eyes on him.

She closed her eyes, waiting for him to turn her down. He didn’t say anything, but then she felt the mattress dip under his weight. “I’ll hold you until you fall asleep.”

Sarah nodded, and then turned her body in his direction. Greg eased himself onto the bed, and face to face, they stared at each other in the darkness. No words were necessary. They were just two people struggling with their lives and everything around them, and they needed each other.

Title: Escape to My Arms (A Prepper Romance)

Author: Heather Thurmeier

Publisher: Decadent Publishing

Publication Date: April 16, 2013

About the Book

Sara’s been preparing for this moment her whole life—she just never believed it would actually happen. With her bug-out bag and emergency food already in her truck, her only goal is to get to her family’s hidden bunker and wait out the pandemic that’s hit every major cruise ship port in the US. But her plan quickly falls apart. She’s out of gas, her route to the bunker is now a two-lane parking lot with no alternative in sight, and her only weapon is a pocketknife. For an experienced prepper, she’s made every rookie mistake.

Dane believes he’s safe in his cabin, off the beaten path and in the woods with his own source for water, electricity and an endless supply of food to hunt. After finding Sara stranded and alone, he’s suddenly not only providing for and protecting himself, but also the girl who wandered out of the woods and into his life. When looters come looking to take what he has, Sara and Dane’s only option is to make a run for their last hope—the bunker.

Can Sara and Dane find safety in each other’s arms and will they survive long enough to escape to a future together?

My Review

My Rating: 5 Stars!

Yay, yay, YAY; another Prepper Romance! I love these stories; the combination of survivalism and romance. Escape to my Arms has a sexy hero, a strong heroine, plenty of action and danger, and some great, steamy scenes.

Dane is one of my favorite types of men; sexy, rugged, protective, and not afraid to get his hands dirty. Sara is a great compliment to his ruggedness. Feminine, with vulnerability, and a surprising and admirable strength and determination. There’s chemistry between the couple from their initial meeting, though they both try to fight the attraction. But things start to heat up when Sara asks Dane to teach her to fight: a fantastic scene where Dane teaches her to shoot a bow stood out to me for its palpable intensity and sexiness. It’s not long before they can’t keep their hands off one another. Can two people find love as society as we know it is is crumbling around them? I don’t know; but Sarah and Dane decide to seize what time they have together, because who knows what could happen next.

” ‘I want to enjoy this moment, right here, right now, with you. Just for a few minutes, I want to stop being afraid and feel something else. Something good. Something happy. I want to feel that something with you.’ “

In the book’s relatively short length, both the plot and characters are well developed. The story flows smoothly and quickly, slowing down to savor just the right moments. I absolutely loved this story for it’s romance with a rugged edge.

*I received a complimentary copy of the book in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Sara sipped her wine and nibbled on another square of chocolate. He was right. Again.

They didn’t know what would happen in the future. Hell, they didn’t even know if there was a future to look forward to at this point. So why shouldn’t they enjoy the moments like this one while they could? Moments when they were safe, warm, fed, and comfortable. They might not get many more nights like this if things kept getting worse, as they seemed to be. Best to savor the time while you had it instead of squandering it away with fights.

At this point, she didn’t even know what future awaited her at the bunker. Would she live with her family for the rest of their lives, never to interact with people from the outside world again? That’s sort of what they wanted, wasn’t it? Wasn’t that why they hadn’t told anyone about the bunker, because they couldn’t trust anyone?

What if this was her last night on her own? It might be her last night to live her life however she wanted to before she had to start making group decisions with her family.

“You’re right.” She polished off the last of her wine in a big gulp. Her head already swirled with the effects of the alcohol. She’d always been a lightweight when it came to getting drunk. Tonight would be no different. Good thing she’d planned to stop at one this evening. She had other plans for the rest of the night.

“Right about what exactly? I said a bunch of stuff.”

She put her wineglass on the floor and took his hand in hers. “You were right about enjoying this moment we have tonight since we don’t know what the future holds, or even if we have a future.”

“Does this mean I’m forgiven?” He smiled, squeezing her hand.

“Yes. And then some.”

Sara took the wineglass from his hand and set it down next to hers, then straddled his lap, resting her hands on his chest. She pressed her mouth to his, delighting in the surprise on his face.

She wasn’t a throw-caution-to-the-wind kind of girl, but for once she was going to do just that, since she didn’t know if she’d have wind to be cautious of later on. Tonight, she’d live by her feelings. Tomorrow she’d go back to surviving.

My Review

My Rating: 4 Stars

“You can overcome anything… short of death.”

A must read for YA/NA Dystopian fans, Branded follows Lexi Hamilton in to the Hole, the “prison system” of a future United States. With the current justice system gone, citizens are branded sinners, and in Lexi’s case, she is innocent of her accused crimes. But that doesn’t matter. In the Hole, she faces certain death and only person standing between her and that death is Cole, the guard assigned to protect her.

Over a short period of time, she must learn to survive this place. What is immediately apparent is that Lexi is and always has been a survivor. As the story unravels, so does the story of Lexi’s past. We learn just how strong she is. A reader can’t help but admire the fact that she’s still standing, still functioning. Occasionally she cracks, and her vulnerability shows, but she always picks herself back up. Because she is a victim of circumstance, her fate always controlled by others, I was so incredibly proud when she finally stands up for herself, and chooses to fight for what she believes in, no matter what the cost.

And there are the others that Lexi meets in the Hole. Alyssa, the young girl who teaches Lexi how to love and provides some of the most touching and heartbreaking moments of the entire story, Sutton, the humanitarian doctor, and of course there is Cole, her guard. And I can’t forget to mention Zeus, arguably my favorite character: the loyal, goofy, hilarious, brave and protective guard dog. As they spend more and more time together, Cole’s attraction to Lexi grows, and they can no longer ignore the obvious connection. To be together, they must face dangerous and impossible odds, damaged pasts, uncertain futures, and death if they are caught.

“Please tell me how I was not going to fall in love with her? Without a doubt, she’s the most amazing person I’ve ever known. So you know what? Yeah, she broke me. She weakened me. But it’s the best thing that ever happened to me… because I have her.”

The entire story is fraught with tension, romantic and otherwise; danger is around every corner. The pages fly by as the reader hurries to find out what happens next. There is an occasional hole in the plot, but not so much that it detracts from the full impact of the story. The book has the aspects of dystopian plots that I really enjoy: a tyrannical government and the underdog rebels that wish to overthrow it. Caught between are the people who must fight this battle, and regardless of the side they are on, so many lives will be destroyed. But there are those like Lexi, Cole, Bruno, and Sutton, who believe in the good and fight for their beliefs. Though it has typical dystopian themes, this is an original story, with twists, turns, questions, and shocking answers. The action-packed climax kept me riveted and shocked me with a surprise a never saw coming. The story illustrates the evil, fear and violence that humans are capable of, but also the compassion, kindness, trust, and ultimately, love.

“Most of all, I wish for peace. If I survive this, all I want is to live with Cole and to live in peace for the rest of my life, knowing I made the right choice.”

The pumps are red satin with a peep toe, a shiny black contrast heel, and a ruffle detail at the vamp. The cat eyeliner with exaggerated lashes and the red lipstick on my porcelain face make the forties inspired look reach perfection.
I enjoy being a pin-up model…

C. Michelle’s vibrant debut novel, Pinned Up is full of snappy dialogue, edgy humor, and a lot of heart. This fun look into the world of a modern-day pin-up model is one wild ride!

Twenty-five-year-old Nina Moretti lives a double life of sorts. She’s a victim advocate during the day and as a side gig, lives out her 1940s fetish as a pin-up model in San Francisco, California. While she may not “do” serious relationships, she has fulfillment in her work and hanging out with her best friend, Kade—the greatest sidekick any woman could possibly want. All is well in Nina’s hectic, but satisfying life…

That is, until she meets Josh, a stunningly handsome man who has a notorious reputation as a ladies’ man. Perhaps, they have more in common than just their fear of relationships. What are two people afraid of commitment supposed to do?

My Review:

My Rating: 4 Stars

Pinned Up is a modern contemporary romance with a vintage pin up flair. Filled to the brim with vivid description, romance, some steamy sex, and a bit of angst, it’s an enjoyable read.

Among the book’s highlights is the author’s ability to set a scene. I have never been to San Francisco but Michelle’s detailed description took me right there, I had not just a feel for the city as a whole, but the San Francisco that this colorful cast of characters exists in.

Speaking of characters, I really liked this cast as a whole. Nina is strong and passionate, if not a bit stubborn. Her vintage edge adds a little something extra. Josh is sexy and smooth, with a witty comeback for everything. They each have a past (that could potentially come back and bite them in their collective asses), and offer each other the chance to finally move forward. The reader is given multiple POV’s and inner monologues, which I completely appreciate, though I would have liked for their inner voices to be more distinct and individual; at times they blended together. NOW I get to the part of the review I’ve been waiting for: I get to talk about KADE. Kade is Nina’s (aka “Cheesecake”‘s) hilarious (and I think rather sexy) best friend, confidante, and brother from another mother. He adds such a fantastic spark to the story! He’s raunchy, hilarious, clever, and caring, and I would love to read a whole book just about him.

Kade’s Motto: “Being normal, reserved, and proper in monotonous. I have too much essence to be dull.”

So, we have a great setting, a diverse and interesting cast of characters, a bit of romance paired with a side of angst, and then come some surprising twists and turns that really bring this plot to life, providing intrigue and intensity. Overall, this is a quirky, romantic, exciting, and enjoyable read.

My Review:

My Rating: 4 Stars

I considered not writing a review at all, and just including this quote from the book:

“You said you only want me?”

     “Well, I do.”

     “It doesn’t seem that way.”

“It’s common etiquette… You say the name of the girl your dick’s in. It’s good manners.”

Because for me, that single quote from the story The Girl Next Whore 2 made the book. Never mind the rest: a collection of brief, raunchy and erotic stories, showcasing “The Wingman’s” sexual prowess and debauched sense of humor;   full of drunken hook-ups, bathroom sex, spanking, threesomes, and the general disrespect and debasement of women.

Here’s the thing, if you’re easily offended by this type of humor, this book is not for you. But if you don’t mind being slightly offended while you’re slightly turned on, chances are you’ll enjoy the book. I’m not proud that I found this book hilarious, titillating, and at times even insightful and philosophical (stay with me here, I know it’s a stretch):

“My parents taught me that if you want to be good at something, practice makes perfect, and I heeded their advice the only way I could- through dirty sex with random whores. Ah, the school of hard knocks. I’m better for it.”

Creepin’ Advice For Men

If you take a girl on a date and don’t make a move she doesn’t think you’re nice, she thinks you’re gay.

The reason a girl gets dressed sexy, puts on uncomfortable heels, and spends a night buying expensive drinks instead of sitting in bed drinking cheap boxed wine is to get fucked.

Follow her into the bathroom. Even if she slaps you, kicks you in the balls, and has you arrested she’ll respect you for trying.

A spanking doesn’t have any sexual effect on a girl unless you leave a hand-print on her ass.

A woman’s orgasm isn’t physical, it’s mental.

Girls are torn between their sexual need to be treated like a whore, and their emotional need to think too much about it. What I’m saying is fuck her hard, spank her, pull her hair, choke her and call her a filthy little cum slut, then afterward eat Sushi and watch Netflix.

Eat em’ for twenty then you could fuck em’ for two, that’s how you get the stud status.

Don’t forget to cuddle because the more comfortable she is, the more likely she is to let you put it in her ass.

For The Ladies…

Stop thinking so much… You’re a girl, every guy wants to fuck you.

You’d be happier, and more guys would buy drinks for you, if you left certain friends at home.

Every time you have the urge to have an independent thought you should have anal sex to take your mind off it.

Just because you want to be a fuck buddy doesn’t mean you have to be a whore.

You have Pussy Power, so to get what you want all you have to do is not put out. In other words, pussy power is about doing nothing.

The only reason women get fucked over by guys is because they don’t realize the power they have over guys.

No straight man wants to be just your friend. Being just friends with a girl is like jerking off without letting yourself cum.

Sucking dick without swallowing is like taking your dog for a walk and not picking up its shit.

All About The Wingman:

James Holeva, aka “The Wingman” is a filthy comedian/author/actor/lothario who enjoys having sex in bedrooms, backseats & bathroom stalls. His humorous, erotic, autobiographical novel “The Wingman Chronicles” has gained a legion of fans all over the world, and been described as a male version of fifty shades without the fantasy elements. The bad boy’s raw and in-your-face way with words extends to his energetic standup comedy shows which have more the atmosphere of a rock concert than a typical comedy show. In addition to his abilities as a writer, his shows are always different as he uses his charm and rapid-fire wit to keep the audience guessing, laughing, and blushing. Holeva sells out shows all over the country, answers sex questions in his #askwingman Q & A portion of the show and has his female fans fighting over being included in his signature on-stage spanking encore. He was voted 2013 reader’s choice best comedian by The Weekender readers.

As an actor he starred in “The Wingman” TV Pilot, which he also wrote and produced, and it just won Best Pilot at the Hoboken International Film Festival. Holeva is hard at work touring the United States doing standup, as well as writing and of course researching his next book. He’s currently working on putting together a film based on “The Wingman Chronicles,” as well as has plans to record a standup comedy DVD, and tour abroad. His meet and greet/book signings are as crazy as his shows as he usually signs as many boobs as he does books, and asses too of course.

About the Book:

Anela Alborn’s life is a lie. After growing up without the love of a father, her mother reveals his identity. Tragedy strikes and she sets off on an adventure that leads to more than she could ever imagine. Bumping into Christian Sivers distracts her from the real man of her dreams, her father. Will he live up to her dreams? And does she follow in her mother’s footsteps?

My Review:

My Rating: 4 Stars

I don’t particularly enjoy tropical vacations (I hate sand and the humidity makes my hair all frizzy), but I enjoyed this quick, romantic trip to Hawaii. Perfect for a single sitting, In My Mother’s Footsteps is warm, light, sensual, and complete.

Throughout the story, I felt the author’s love of Hawaii through the characters’ experiences. Hawaii is a fantastic backdrop for this heartwarming romance. On her vacation, Anela is lucky enough to find true love, a family she didn’t know existed, and most importantly, she finds herself. Her journey is heartfelt and emotional, complete with a beautiful and surprising proposal, and a wonderful happily-ever-after that left me just a little teary.

“The fresh sea air lofted around us and mixed with our passion. After a loving peck, he placed his forehead against mine and stared into my eyes. I knew then that I was falling in love with this man.”

My brown, wooden, antiquated cottage sat on top of a hill in Sausalito. The shingles were bleached out from exposure to the sun’s rays. A beautiful, naturally-worn deck wound around the small chalet and gave me one of the best views in town. The bold, red peaks of the Golden Gate Bridge were visible through the light haze of fog over the ocean. With the hot sun working overtime to clear the sky, the fog always seemed to linger around the tops of the bridge. To my left, I could look down and see the rocky shore that the tourists often frequented. The slick brown and black seals liked to sunbathe on the boulders at the water’s edge. People would gather to take pictures or have lunch in one of the quaint restaurants that overlooked the choppy, aqua-blue ocean.

I had grown up in Sausalito my entire life. With the exception of when I went to Berkley, I hadn’t adventured into the city much. Sometimes, I’d take the ferry to Angel Island with my mountain bike and take leisurely rides or run the hills. I hadn’t done that since I ran out of my mother’s house, either.

Now that I had packed up all of her belongings — with the exception a few things I wanted to keep — I was exhausted. As I sat on the deck of my small cottage and stared out into the vast ocean, I felt anxious about the file that sat on my lap. Lennie had given it to me at his office three days before and I had yet to open it. The fear at what I’d find seeped in and turned my stomach.

Focusing my attention, I looked down at the folder and decided the time had come to face whatever was inside. My hands trembled as I lifted the two metal prongs and opened the flap. I tipped the folder upside down to empty the contents, finding the usual white sheets of paper that were full of legal jargon. How I wished I didn’t know what they meant. Sifting through it all, I found a copy of the deed to the house, which stated that it had been transferred to my name. Also, there was the pink slip to my mother’s car to be filled out and mailed to the Department of Motor Vehicles, and a small envelope with my mother’s messy, artsy script on the front. One word had been written on it: Anela.

About the Author:

Jennifer Garcia’s (aka Forbes Arnone) love of travel began when she traveled to the West Coast to visit her father at the age of three. Her home until she was sixteen was a small coastal town near Boston. She currently resides in Los Angeles with her husband, two sons, and two dogs.

Her lifelong love for reading and writing was put aside for many years while she made her way in the world and nurtured her young family. Even though she is older, and life never seems to settle, she’s finding her way while attending college full-time in pursuit of a B.A. in English Literature. She also runs a business, and is still caring for her family. Believing she can do it all, with the help of her family, she worked on her first novel during the late hours of the night while balancing the rest of her life during the day. Her hard work paid off, as her first novel, My Mr. Manny, will be published August 2013.

About the Book:

When twenty-one-year-old Leah Carter’s latest one night stand burglarizes her apartment, her roommate forces her to attend therapy for sex addicts. Leah insists she isn’t a sex addict; she just doesn’t do relationships. After all, sooner or later, everyone lets you down.

At first, the group sessions are little more than an education on how to be promiscuous. Until she meets the newest addict—blue eyes, killer body, and a smile that tempts relapse.

Psychology student Will McLean is posing as a fellow addict while researching a case study on unusual addictions. But the more he learns about Leah, the more certain he is that his desire to break through her walls and unearth her secrets has nothing to do with his assignment.

As the uncertainties spike alongside the sexual tension, the only thing Leah knows for sure is that falling in love would be disastrous. Too bad love might be one addiction she can’t kick.

My Review:

My Rating: 4.5 Stars

I started this book with a smile on my lips, and ended it the same way. There was a roller-coaster of emotions in between, but as a whole, I completely enjoyed the journey.

I adored and empathized with Leah from the beginning. She had me cracking up up from the first pages with her witty, hilarious and cynical sarcasm. However, it became clear that as humorous as it is, Leah’s sense of humor is a defense mechanism, a way to keep her real feelings of hurt and loneliness behind a carefully constructed wall. Enter Will, the sexy as hell Scottish transplant determined to get to know her better, and slowly (and only with much work and patience on Will’s part), Leah’s walls begin to crumble.

There is a point in the middle of the the story when it feels a bit slow, but overall, I was completely engrossed in Leah and Will’s relationship. Though they come close a few times, they don’t have sex right away, so the author expertly builds the connection with only sexual tension, mutual attraction, a bit of angst, and real, palpable emotions. The story has the right combination of drama, biting wit, and sweet, heartfelt romance. Addicted to You is a very satisfying story of a two characters’ journey towards love and healing, fueled by their mutual desires for change and happiness.

“Never let it be said that Will wasn’t up for a challenge. He had no intention of letting her make him a one night stand. Whether she felt the same or not, Will would show her that he was an addiction worth keeping.”

My Review:

My Rating: 5 Stars!

” ‘I’ll never kneel before you.’ Her sweet breath caressed his lips. ‘Just so you know.’

His dominant side begged to break free.

‘Is that a challenge?’

‘Just a fact.’ She smiled as she removed her hand from underneath his and placed it on top.

Ah yes, Master M is definitely up for this challenge.

I absolutely love this book; an unlikely but heartfelt and sexy romance, sensual BDSM, and an emotional journey towards submission, compromise, understanding, and ultimately love.

I adore the main characters in this story. Ari and Martin may have very different expectations for relationships, but they are willing to put that aside and attempt to build a future together, in spite of the obstacles. He’s a Dominant, and she is NOT a submissive. Their journey shows the trust it takes to venture in to the unknown in an an effort to find a love that can only exist on middle ground. Not only does Martin push Ari’s limits of submission, she pushes his limits as a man.

The writing is clean, smooth, beautiful and engaging, I was captivated by the entire story. Sensual and deliciously titillating BDSM scenes, an emotional love story, and just enough drama and humor combine in this lovely book: a few fantastic hours of escape, where I smiled, shed a few tears, and basked in the afterglow of a happily-ever-after.

” ‘I have an incredible Master.’ She hugged him. ‘Thank you.’

‘For what?’

‘Helping me figure out who I want to be’.

‘Who is that?’ He played with the ends of her hair.

That one word warmed his heart. In his past, many had belonged to him but no one had ever possessed him the way she did. He may have been the Master, but she held all the power.

She had his soul.”
