Welcome to the Truth by Sherri Hayes Book Tour! I’m so excited to share my review of the third book in this wonderful series.

About the Book

For the last two months, Brianna has discovered something she never thought she would again. Hope. After the horror of being Ian’s slave for ten months, a fate she never imagined she’d escape, it feels as if she is living a dream. She has freedom she hadn’t expected to have again, and she wakes up every morning not fearing what the day will bring. There is also Stephan. The man who saved her from the daily torture she had to endure at the hands of Ian and his friends. The same man who makes her heart race with just the thought of him. Life is good.

Outside forces are determined to conspire against them, however. When Brianna’s father shows up on her doorstep, it sends her world spiraling out of control. He brings with him new information about how Brianna ended up in Ian’s clutches, but will it make a difference? Will Stephan be able to find a way to make Ian pay for all he made Brianna suffer?

As Brianna and Stephan try to find out the truth, their relationship is tested. She is forced to face her past head on and deal with the ugly reality of what happened to her. Will Stephan’s love be enough to see her through her newest challenge, or will the fragile trust they’ve built come crumbling down around them as the truth makes itself known.

My Review

My Rating: 4 Stars

“Feeling her body pressed to mine, seeing the trust in her eyes, was a high I couldn’t explain. Her trust meant more to me than any other gift I’d ever been given, and I hoped I’d never lose it. She deserved everything in life, and I wanted to be the one to give it to her.”

Since finishing Need, I have been anxiously awaiting this third book in the series, and I was not disappointed.

As in the rest of the series, Hayes tells the story from both Stephan’s and Anna’s POVs, and she does a lovely job. The characters’ voices are so clearly their own. There is no mistaking whether it is Stephan or Anna speaking, their perspectives are so distinct, and yet the story still flows smoothly. The prose is uncomplicated and inviting.

Anna and Stephan’s story is one of healing, trust, and perseverance. I’ve enjoyed watching their relationship progress through all three books, and until I looked back to the first, I had forgotten just how far they have come. The path has not been easy and it will continue to be difficult. In Truth, we see the relationship deepen, the connection strengthen, and the sexual chemistry heat up. Anna is no longer the completely destroyed young woman she once was, but still depends on the security and safety Stephan’s presence provides. What becomes much clearer however, is that Stephan needs Anna perhaps as much as she needs him.

I would recommend reading the first two books in the series before reading Truth. This is a relationship you will want to experience from the beginning. It’s sensual and kind, complicated and dark, warm and safe. This is a book of contradictions: can this strict Dom really be the one to continue to heal this broken young woman, and give her everything she needs and deserves, including the truth? I am anxiously awaiting book #4, the conclusion to Stephan and Anna’s story.

About the Author

Sherri is the author of five novels: Hidden Threat, Slave (Finding Anna, Book 1), Need (Finding Anna, Book 2), Behind Closed Doors (A Daniels Brothers Novel), Red Zone (A Daniels Brothers Novel), and a short story, “A Christmas Proposal.” She lives in central Ohio with her husband and three cats. Her mother fostered her love for books at a young age by reading to her as a child. Stories have been floating around in her head for as long as she can remember; however, she didn’t start writing them down until she turned thirty. It has become a creative outlet that allows her to explore a wide range of emotions, while having fun taking her characters through all the twists and turns she can create. When she’s not writing, she can usually be found helping her husband in his woodworking shop.

Love Detail’s favorite angel has his sights set on his next target: the stoic and mysterious Noble Blackfeather. And it just may prove to be his toughest case yet. Noble’s reclusive ways keep his angel at wing’s distance, and love even further. But he’s not playing a part – he’s truly masking a painful secret and a profoundly wounded
heart.

A cupid’s worst nightmare.

Noble’s been paired with Braelyn Campbell, the cute single mother next door. She’s adorable, friendly, fun…everything Noble needs. This should be a Love Squad slam dunk. Except she’s making a fresh start in Texas to protect her son from a volatile ex, and she’s not about to risk her heart or her son on another man. Even if he’s sexy as sin and always coming to her rescue.

Thank God for possibilities.

But, reluctantly, they are drawn together – thanks to their cupid’s dogged efforts and a whole lotta chemistry. Can the girl next door learn to trust again and help heal Noble’s wounded heart? Together, can they save the lost, hurting boy she’s raising? Can the angels help it happen before it’s too late?

Thank God for love.

Seven Sentences from The Halo Effect

“She nodded again as she took a step in his direction. And though the darkness hid her eyes, he could feel the dare in them taunting him. He didn’t know how to process a woman like her. She studied his face as the rain continued to shower down on them and a peal of lightning lit up the sky with an almost instantaneous crack of thunder. But she didn’t flinch. No words, no touches, nothing. She waited.”

My Review

“But here, he realized, everyone had created a family of sorts. A family of lost souls.”

Truly a joy to read, The Halo Effect broke my heart and put the pieces together again. When Braelyn and Noble meet, it doesn’t seem likely that they will save one another, as well as Braelyn’s son Tristan, from their broken pasts. But with a little intervention from a couple of angels, plenty of natural chemistry, and a bit of faith, this couple just may have a chance at a trust, family, love, and freedom from their pasts.

Smooth writing, clever, natural dialogue, wonderfully layered and relatable characters, burning sexual chemistry, the exact right amount of darkness and angst balanced with humor, and a truly wonderful story all come together in this book. I was so excited when I found out about a second book in The Cupid Chronicles and even more eager to read it when I found out Noble was getting his own book. He was so enigmatic in the first book, I couldn’t wait to find out more about him. His character exceeds my expectations: a sexy loner with a good, if damaged heart. He’s perfectly complimented by the sassy and sexy Braelyn, the protective single mother of Tristan. In a effort to protect their hearts, Noble and Braelyn follow an atypical path for a romance, forming a tentative friendship before a romantic relationship, in spite of their obvious sexual chemistry. Though the path was bumpy, watching the relationship grow among Braelyn, Tristan, and Noble warmed my heart, made me cry, made me laugh, and gave me hope.

This story has the perfect balance of darkness and the light at the end of the tunnel. Even with the “paranormal aspects”, it remains very real and accessible. With emotional, well-paced and exceptional storytelling, a fantastic cast of characters, (both human and angel) and a beautifully satisfying ending, this is a fantastic book that a broad range of romance readers will enjoy.

“She took him in, from his rain-soaked ponytail, to eyes black as the starless night sky, then deeper to the man she knew was underneath. The man who could make her laugh with his dry-as-toast humor. The man full of such quiet spirituality. His sense of honor. His everything. He’d quickly become way too much to her.”

About the Book

From the moment Nolan Pratt walked into Alexa Arnold’s life everything was forever changed. After a year of dating, the ring was on her finger, the house was purchased, and life was heading down Pleasantville Lane. Everything was perfect.

Or so they thought.

With help from his parent’s inheritance, Nolan takes on a new business adventure, utilizing all his free time. What was once their life- carefree with minimal responsibilities, is no more. When Alexa starts to feel the pressure from school, wedding planning, and lack of help from Nolan, exhaustion kicks in and feelings get hurt, testing the strength of their relationship. But, if there is one thing that Nolan will never compromise, it’s Alexa’s happiness. There’s nothing Nolan Pratt won’t do to make sure Alexa is well taken care of, loved, and happy.

When Nolan’s past resurfaces- a past that Alexa didn’t know existed- will it all be too much? Will Nolan’s devotion to Alexa’s happiness cost him their relationship and lose him the only thing that has ever mattered in his life? Or will Nolan discover that his past doesn’t determine his future and he is worth the happiness he doesn’t think he deserves?

My Review

“Having no words, and overcome with emotion, I leap into Nolan’s arms and push my mouth fiercely against his. With no hesitation, he lifts me up from behind, letting my legs naturally wrap around his body. Our tongues glide with an immense amount of lust and passion as my hands tangle in his hair.

I’m so in love with this man it takes my breath away.”

Giving You Forever is a light, sexy, and romantic read, perfect for the summertime. Alexa and Nolan are on the cusp of having everything they want, a beautiful wedding, a strong marriage, and satisfying careers. But, no relationship gets to that point without a few bumps in the road.  Throughout the story, it is clear how much these two characters are deeply in love. It is this love that will have to give them strength to pull through when things get tough.

The author does a very nice job of smoothly executing a story told from dual points of view. The transitions are easy, and both characters have a unique voice.  The story itself has a natural ebb and flow. There’s plenty of sweet romance, and quite a few steamy sex scenes, and a dash of angst and drama. For me though, the story just became a bit repetitive. The romance as well as the sex is well written, but I occasionally found myself feeling déjà vu, like I had been there before.

Overall, this is a good read that will appeal to many romance readers. A smooth writing style, likeable characters, real-life relationship issues, plenty of steam and sweet romance make this a book that fans of lighter contemporary romance will enjoy.

Read on to find out Malia’s must-haves for a long plane ride… Oh, and lots MORE, including a link to my new review of Book #3 in the series! Enjoy 🙂

My Reviews of the Dominating BDSM Billionaires Series:

His Need, Her Desire (Book #1)

His Desire, Her Surrender (Book #2)

**Brand New Review** Her Wish, His Command (Book #3)

*Coming Soon* His Passion, Her Temptation

Welcome back Malia! It’s so great to have you here again!

Malia:

I’m very excited about my new release, His Passion, Her Temptation, which is the fourth book in the Dominating BDSM Billionaires Series. His Need, Her Desire (Book 1) is currently free at most online retailers. His Desire, Her Surrender (Book 2) hit bestseller lists in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada and Australia. Her Wish, His Command (Book 3) released in June.

In the book, Monica and her brother, Marcus, take a trip to Hawaii. They are flying from New York and she arrives zonked out because she couldn’t sleep on the plane. I personally know that flying Chicago to Honolulu is a ten-hour flight. For New York, you can probably add two more hours. Ouch, right? So, what can you do to make a long flight more bearable? Here are my suggestions.

1. Pack Light. Seriously, I know this is hard, but how many times have you returned from a trip to find you didn’t even touch some of the things in your suitcase? Packing light means less to lug around and less to keep track of. On a long, crowded flight, consider checking your rollerboard so you can board with a couple carry-ons with things you’ll want for the flight.

2. Rations. We know what flights are like these days. High-priced, not so great food if they even have it. You do NOT want to get on a long flight only to find the sandwiches weren’t loaded in Newark. It happens. Bring food. Even if you purchase something on the flight, you’ll have something for later. You never know when you’ll wind up sitting on the tarmac or hanging around the terminal. Things could be closed or maybe they don’t have anything you want. Bring some non-perishable snacks. I’d advise a bottle of water as well even though you’ll probably be offered drinks on the plane. You don’t want to be dinging the flight attendant at 2 am for water for an aspirin if you can avoid it.

3. Headphones. Bring headphones for your phone or music player. Bring an adapter in case there is in-flight entertainment. You don’t need the $5 headphones if you bring your own. This is truly a flexible tool. You can use it to avoid conversation with you seatmate if you so desire. You can drown out the kids sitting behind you. You can also avoid inflicting your music or video games sounds on those around you.

4. Eye Mask. Also good for avoiding people around you J If you think you might sleep and you have trouble with the light, these are great. What happens if it’s midnight and your seatmate decided he’d like to read a magazine and puts on the light? Be prepared.

5. Entertainment. If you have a Smartphone, you might be set with music, books, games and movies. Now might be the time to spring for a few digital magazines. Download what you want in advance and make sure it is ready to go. You don’t want to find out your newest bestseller is stored in the cloud when you have no internet. Bring your eReader or your laptop or whatever will help. I really recommend the phone because it is small and light. It stinks though for movies so, do what works for you. Consider backups at well. If the person in front of you reclines, it’s possible you won’t be able to get your laptop open. No joke. Have a backup plan and a charger.

6. Dress Comfortably. Now isn’t the time for tight pants and high heels. You can be fashionable while wearing something with a looser fit. If you really need to, change in the bathroom when you get to your destination. I don’t recommend taking off your shoes and I don’t recommend changing into slippers. Your feet might swell, forcing you to disembark along a lot of dirty carpet barefoot. Wear comfortable shoes you’ll be able to keep on.

7. Bring Your Own Pillow and Blanket. There is no guarantee of a pillow or blanket being available for you. Even if you get it, it might not be clean. Bring your own. I purchased a small throw blanket cheap and it rolls up very small. I also bring a tiny pillow. I’m not a fan of the blow up kind. You have no control over how hot or cold the plane might be. You might need a sweater and if you don’t have it, the blanket will do in a pinch.

While I wouldn’t make such thorough provision for a short flight, on a longer trip you have to plan for the contingencies. You won’t be caught out if you are sitting under the air vent that won’t close. You won’t be thirsty if the crew runs out of water. You won’t be hungry if the only food left when they get to your row is a terrible, tuna sandwich. You’ll be set whether your flight is delayed or on time. Happy Traveling!

His Passion, Her Temptation Excerpt

“So, do you want to eat now … or later?” Monica’s smile turned seductive.

“Well, I think I might need you first.” His hand reached to touch the silkiness of her hair.

“I agree. Food can wait.” Monica pulled his head down and kissed him, greedy to taste his lips.

Without breaking the kiss, Ben guided her out of the hallway into the living room.

Monica slipped her finger under the edge of his collar. “You know, it doesn’t seem fair that you get to call all the shots.”

“Oh? I call all the shots?” Ben’s hands roamed to her rear and squeezed.

“Yes … you decide when and how …” Monica licked the edge of his lip.

“One, that isn’t quite true, and two, I haven’t heard you complaining.” He gave her a playful pinch on the ass.

“Oh no, I’m not complaining.” Her hand moved to the front of his pants, cupping him.

“Then what?” His hands slid down to the back of her thighs.

“I thought it might be fun to … try a little something else.” She rubbed him through the fabric of his pants.

“What did you have in mind?” Ben swept his hands up her back and tangled his fingers in her hair.

Monica tilted her head back. “Do you recall that night before I left for Hawaii?”

“I do believe it is burned into my memory.”

“Sometimes I wonder if it wouldn’t be interesting to reverse things.” Monica observed his face for a reaction.

“Reverse things?”

“Oh yes.” Her finger laid a trail down the front of his chest. “You,” she poked him gently, “would do as I say.”

“I see. Are you finding you have a dominant streak?” he teased.

“I’m not sure, but I have a desire to find out.” The thought of taking charge appealed to Monica, not all the time, but perhaps occasionally.

Ben smiled. “That sounds … enticing.”

“I hoped you’d think so.” Monica walked around him, patting his ass with her palm.

“How would you start?”

“I’d tell you to disrobe for my viewing pleasure.” Monica enjoyed looking at the hard planes of Ben’s body, so different from her own curves.

“Shall I?”

“Oh, yes.” Monica crossed the few steps to the seating area and settled herself into an upholstered chair.

Ben approached Monica and then turned his back toward her. He loosened his tie and pulled it free, tossing it over his shoulder in Monica’s direction before unbuttoning his shirt and letting the fabric fall to the floor. He turned slightly and caught her eye. Monica flushed under his wicked gaze.

About the Book:

Doctor Anna Foster may just get what she wants: sexy fellow researcher Jonah Granger. She’s been in love with him for years, but Jonah has always been more interested in work at his family’s business, Granger Pharma, than romance. Now that they’ve admitted their attraction, Anna may even be able to tell him what she really wants: to submit to him.

But Granger Pharma faces a hostile takeover. Sensitive data and samples are missing from Anna and Jonah’s lab; it may be corporate espionage. Everyone is under suspicion and, and they’re even beginning to question each other. Anna must discover the truth if she’s going to save both her job and her relationship with the man she dreams of serving.

My Review:

Another fabulous read from Malia Mallory! A continuation in the Dominating BDSM Billionaires Series, Her Wish, His Command is continuation of the previous books, but we get new characters. (And we get to go to Marcus and Tabitha’s beautiful wedding with them!) Though it’s a continuation of the series, the story can be read as a stand alone.

The central characters, Anna and Jonah, are co-workers, scientists at Granger pharmaceuticals. Anna has always had a thing for Jonah, and when they are forced to share an office space, things immediately heat up between them. The tension is fantastic, and the reader doesn’t have to wait long for things to boil over. They share a mutual attraction and plenty of *cough* “chemistry” (haha, science joke), but the quiet and often insecure Anna has a hidden to desire to be a submissive, and the relationship challenged Jonah has no experience as a Dominant. This deliciously sexy story follows the couple as they find their way towards common ground in the bedroom. This couple seems to have a tendency towards hot, quick sex in public places; and I like it! Fantastically written, sensual, and sizzling hot sex scenes, and the prospect for a real and fulfilling romantic relationship make this a couple to root for. In a short time, Mallory easily creates relatable and complex characters and an emotional and engaging romance.

Entwining its way into Anna and Jonah’s sexy romance is the ongoing corporate espionage subplot. Important information an research is stolen from the labs at Granger Pharma, security is breached, and another attempt is made at Marcus’ life. Though the romantic story reaches a satisfying conclusion, the future of Granger Pharma, as well as the professional futures of Marcus, Anna, and Jonah hang in the balance. I can’t wait to read the next story!

About the Book:

The pumps are red satin with a peep toe, a shiny black contrast heel, and a ruffle detail at the vamp. The cat eyeliner with exaggerated lashes and the red lipstick on my porcelain face make the forties inspired look reach perfection.
I enjoy being a pin-up model…

C. Michelle’s vibrant debut novel, Pinned Up is full of snappy dialogue, edgy humor, and a lot of heart. This fun look into the world of a modern-day pin-up model is one wild ride!

Twenty-five-year-old Nina Moretti lives a double life of sorts. She’s a victim advocate during the day and as a side gig, lives out her 1940s fetish as a pin-up model in San Francisco, California. While she may not “do” serious relationships, she has fulfillment in her work and hanging out with her best friend, Kade—the greatest sidekick any woman could possibly want. All is well in Nina’s hectic, but satisfying life…

That is, until she meets Josh, a stunningly handsome man who has a notorious reputation as a ladies’ man. For his part, Josh is reluctant to commit to any woman, largely due to his loving, yet overbearing mother. Nina, however, sparks his interest in a way that no other woman has before. As they navigate the pitfalls of romantic entanglement, both come to realize their pasts are intertwined in ways they could never imagine. Perhaps, they have more in common than just their fear of relationships. What are two people afraid of commitment supposed to do?

My Review:

My Rating: 4 Stars

Pinned Up is a modern contemporary romance with a vintage pin up flair. Filled to the brim with vivid description, romance, some steamy sex, and a bit of angst, it’s an enjoyable read.

Among the book’s highlights is the author’s ability to set a scene. I have never been to San Francisco but Michelle’s detailed description took me right there, I had not just a feel for the city as a whole, but the San Francisco that this colorful cast of characters exists in.

Speaking of characters, I really liked this cast as a whole. Nina is strong and passionate, if not a bit stubborn. Her vintage edge adds a little something extra. Josh is sexy and smooth, with a witty comeback for everything. They each have a past (that could potentially come back and bite them in their collective asses), and offer each other the chance to finally move forward. The reader is given multiple POV’s and inner monologues, which I completely appreciate, though I would have liked for their inner voices to be more distinct and individual; at times they blended together. NOW I get to the part of the review I’ve been waiting for: I get to talk about KADE. Kade is Nina’s (aka “Cheesecake”‘s) hilarious (and I think rather sexy) best friend, confidante, and brother from another mother. He adds such a fantastic spark to the story! He’s raunchy, hilarious, clever, and caring, and I would love to read a whole book just about him.

Kade’s Motto: “Being normal, reserved, and proper in monotonous. I have too much essence to be dull.”

So, we have a great setting, a diverse and interesting cast of characters, a bit of romance paired with a side of angst, and then come some surprising twists and turns that really bring this plot to life, providing intrigue and intensity. Overall, this is a quirky, romantic, exciting, and enjoyable read.

My Review:

My Rating: 4 Stars

I don’t particularly enjoy tropical vacations (I hate sand and the humidity makes my hair all frizzy), but I enjoyed this quick, romantic trip to Hawaii. Perfect for a single sitting, In My Mother’s Footsteps is warm, light, sensual, and complete.

Throughout the story, I felt the author’s love of Hawaii through the characters’ experiences. Hawaii is a fantastic backdrop for this heartwarming romance. On her vacation, Anela is lucky enough to find true love, a family she didn’t know existed, and most importantly, she finds herself. Her journey is heartfelt and emotional, complete with a beautiful and surprising proposal, and a wonderful happily-ever-after that left me just a little teary.

“The fresh sea air lofted around us and mixed with our passion. After a loving peck, he placed his forehead against mine and stared into my eyes. I knew then that I was falling in love with this man.”

Excerpt:

My brown, wooden, antiquated cottage sat on top of a hill in Sausalito. The shingles were bleached out from exposure to the sun’s rays. A beautiful, naturally-worn deck wound around the small chalet and gave me one of the best views in town. The bold, red peaks of the Golden Gate Bridge were visible through the light haze of fog over the ocean. With the hot sun working overtime to clear the sky, the fog always seemed to linger around the tops of the bridge. To my left, I could look down and see the rocky shore that the tourists often frequented. The slick brown and black seals liked to sunbathe on the boulders at the water’s edge. People would gather to take pictures or have lunch in one of the quaint restaurants that overlooked the choppy, aqua-blue ocean.

I had grown up in Sausalito my entire life. With the exception of when I went to Berkley, I hadn’t adventured into the city much. Sometimes, I’d take the ferry to Angel Island with my mountain bike and take leisurely rides or run the hills. I hadn’t done that since I ran out of my mother’s house, either.

Now that I had packed up all of her belongings — with the exception a few things I wanted to keep — I was exhausted. As I sat on the deck of my small cottage and stared out into the vast ocean, I felt anxious about the file that sat on my lap. Lennie had given it to me at his office three days before and I had yet to open it. The fear at what I’d find seeped in and turned my stomach.

Focusing my attention, I looked down at the folder and decided the time had come to face whatever was inside. My hands trembled as I lifted the two metal prongs and opened the flap. I tipped the folder upside down to empty the contents, finding the usual white sheets of paper that were full of legal jargon. How I wished I didn’t know what they meant. Sifting through it all, I found a copy of the deed to the house, which stated that it had been transferred to my name. Also, there was the pink slip to my mother’s car to be filled out and mailed to the Department of Motor Vehicles, and a small envelope with my mother’s messy, artsy script on the front. One word had been written on it: Anela.

My Review:

My Rating: 4.5 Stars

I started this book with a smile on my lips, and ended it the same way. There was a roller-coaster of emotions in between, but as a whole, I completely enjoyed the journey.

I adored and empathized with Leah from the beginning. She had me cracking up up from the first pages with her witty, hilarious and cynical sarcasm. However, it became clear that as humorous as it is, Leah’s sense of humor is a defense mechanism, a way to keep her real feelings of hurt and loneliness behind a carefully constructed wall. Enter Will, the sexy as hell Scottish transplant determined to get to know her better, and slowly (and only with much work and patience on Will’s part), Leah’s walls begin to crumble.

There is a point in the middle of the the story when it feels a bit slow, but overall, I was completely engrossed in Leah and Will’s relationship. Though they come close a few times, they don’t have sex right away, so the author expertly builds the connection with only sexual tension, mutual attraction, a bit of angst, and real, palpable emotions. The story has the right combination of drama, biting wit, and sweet, heartfelt romance. Addicted to You is a very satisfying story of a two characters’ journey towards love and healing, fueled by their mutual desires for change and happiness.

“Never let it be said that Will wasn’t up for a challenge. He had no intention of letting her make him a one night stand. Whether she felt the same or not, Will would show her that he was an addiction worth keeping.”

My Rating: 5 Stars!

” ‘I’ll never kneel before you.’ Her sweet breath caressed his lips. ‘Just so you know.’

His dominant side begged to break free.

‘Is that a challenge?’

‘Just a fact.’ She smiled as she removed her hand from underneath his and placed it on top.

Ah yes, Master M is definitely up for this challenge.

I absolutely love this book; an unlikely but heartfelt and sexy romance, sensual BDSM, and an emotional journey towards submission, compromise, understanding, and ultimately love.

I adore the main characters in this story. Ari and Martin may have very different expectations for relationships, but they are willing to put that aside and attempt to build a future together, in spite of the obstacles. He’s a Dominant, and she is NOT a submissive. Their journey shows the trust it takes to venture in to the unknown in an an effort to find a love that can only exist on middle ground. Not only does Martin push Ari’s limits of submission, she pushes his limits as a man.

The writing is clean, smooth, beautiful and engaging, I was captivated by the entire story. Sensual and deliciously titillating BDSM scenes, an emotional love story, and just enough drama and humor combine in this lovely book: a few fantastic hours of escape, where I smiled, shed a few tears, and basked in the afterglow of a happily-ever-after.

” ‘I have an incredible Master.’ She hugged him. ‘Thank you.’

‘For what?’

‘Helping me figure out who I want to be’.

‘Who is that?’ He played with the ends of her hair.

‘Yours.’

That one word warmed his heart. In his past, many had belonged to him but no one had ever possessed him the way she did. He may have been the Master, but she held all the power.

She had his soul.”

My Review:

My Rating: 5 Stars

I LOVE BLADE! I’m pretty sure I was doodling his name in my Trapper Keeper ALL through second period and missed the entire class!

Too Sexy for His Stetson is the perfect mix of sizzling hot sexual chemistry, tender romance, and heart-pounding action and suspense. Blade and Brandy come together, each with their own dark past and offer each other the chance at a better future. BUT, their romance is against the rules; and let’s face it, challenging the rules only makes things HOTTER.

I truly enjoyed both of these main characters. Blade is the perfect combination of dangerously sexy but honest, trustworthy, Levi and Stetson wearing western hero. I love a man who protects his woman at all costs. Especially when the woman is like Brandy: strong and independent enough not to need his protection, but feminine and vulnerable enough to need HIM.

This action-packed thrill ride kept me glued to the pages, through all of the twists and turns and up until the unexpected conclusion. Add compelling and relatable characters, a touch of humor, plenty of danger and intrigue, and throw in sexual tension and heartfelt romance, and the result is this fantastic read.

“He groaned, clutching her tightly to his body, as she slid down onto his heat. She took all that he had to give. In return, she surrendered, completely. Never has she felt so close to another human being.

When they climaxed, the world spun in a beautiful kaleidoscope of warmth and joy.

Complete.

Blade blew out a suppressed breath and kissed her neck. Sighed into her hair. Her chest still ached, but no pain pills could stop the kind of hurt burrowing into her core. She wanted something she couldn’t have. She wanted to trust someone other than herself. She wanted that elusive thing called love.

Excerpt:

Brandy’s trigger finger twitched. A bead of sweat tickled its way down her backbone. She was inexperienced, off duty, and miles from her truck, which sat near a trailhead in the mountainous wilderness of northern Idaho, and the intruder she held at gunpoint probably had seventy muscled pounds on her.

She studied the cowboy’s sweet-as-honey, wicked-as-sin smile through the sights of her department-issued Remington semiautomatic rifle. From his pose on the rickety porch of the old log cabin, he assessed her right back. His full lips tugged across Crest-white teeth, exposing a small but sexy gap between his central incisors.

He tipped his head toward the jimmied-open window. “I know this looks bad, Ma’am, but I can explain,” he drawled out “Ma’am” again.

“Deputy Sheriff Brandy Wilcox. Keep your hands where I can see them.”

“Brandy?” Impervious to the deputy sheriff title, he straightened and angled his dusty black Stetson over his forehead so the brim shadowed his cool-water eyes. “Name like that could make a man real thirsty.”

Brandy had heard just about every come-on in the book, but never from a trespasser on the business end of her rifle. She calculated his over-confident grin, the twinkle in his eyes, the tilt of his head—blond curly hair no less. A sensual package that promised a ride on the wild side—if one was so inclined. Which she was not.

Yet something primal tugged deep in her stomach.

Bracing the Remington more firmly against her shoulder, she steadied her aim and revved up her grit. This guy was banking on his wild smile a little too heavily. What he needed was some taming.

“Okay, drop ‘em.”

When he lowered his arms, she said, “Not your hands, your pants.”

For several beats, he stared at her like he hadn’t heard.

“Lose your Levis,” she urged again. She had no desire to shoot him, but she didn’t have handcuffs on her and she wasn’t about to chance his getting away. If it came to a footrace, his long muscular legs could outrun her in a heartbeat. But he couldn’t get far stomping barefoot in his skivvies through the mountainous shale-scabbed terrain. Not that making a break for it was something she intended to let him try.

“Excuse me? You want me to strip?” A trill of elation noticeably brightened his whisky-smooth voice. His expression bounced between “this is my lucky day” and disbelief.

“You got it. And while you’re at it, you can get rid of the shirt too.”

The fine lines defining his too-blue eyes crinkled as his expression turned sultry, and charisma dripped off his broad shoulders like summer rain over mountain granite.

Charisma, hell. That would get him exactly nowhere with her. “Necessary precaution. I wouldn’t want you trying to mosey off.” Not before she could engage an on-duty deputy to make an arrest.

She may have looked as young and inexperienced as she was, but she was physically and mentally tougher than her feminine five-foot-four frame suggested. She could outshoot and outthink every cadet in her graduating class at the police academy.

Revenge had a way of empowering a woman.

Despite her upbringing, she’d beaten the odds. She was making something of herself, and she wasn’t about to be intimidated by this guy and his toothpaste poster-boy smile, nor the blond, sweat-soaked curls straggling across his collar. Or the pumped biceps stretching the fabric of his shirtsleeves.

“I’m still waiting.”

“You’re serious?” He eyed the lettering on her I’m a Redneck Woman T-shirt, a fifty-cent find at Goodwill. “I usually like to get to know a woman a little before taking my clothes off and having a good time.” The dazzle of his smile cranked the charisma meter several notches higher.

“I can assure you, you won’t be having a good time.” Smart ass.

“That’s debatable. I’m already enjoying this more than you can imagine.”

Too eagerly, his fingers began tugging open his shirt buttons, revealing a deep triangle of bronzed skin dusted with tawny chest hair. More sun-kissed eye candy than she was ready to cope with.

As he slid buttons through buttonholes, her gaze skidded to a stop on abs honed like corrugated steel. She tore her glance upward only to meet those unnerving eyes, speckles of light glinting in the azure pools.

As he reached for the fastener on the waistband of his slim-fit 510’s, the heat blooming on Brandy’s cheeks slid south. Maybe this wasn’t such a good idea after all. Still, he couldn’t run far in his underwear. Seconds ticked by. Golden sunbeams gleamed off beads of sweat on muscles she didn’t really want to notice, but her attention was completely captured by the liquid heat trickling down his chest. She worked harder to convince herself the quiver in her gut came from adrenaline not feminine hormones. At any moment, her survival instincts and training would take over and stop this ridiculous sensual reaction to him. “Turn around and take off your boots.”

“My boots?” The first sign of indignation crept into his voice. “Brandy, Honey, I think you’re making a big mistake. Did you ever hear of fairness in apprehension?”

“You sound experienced.” Obviously, this wasn’t his first tangle with the law. “Have you heard of justification of lethal force? Consider yourself lucky that I didn’t shoot first and ask questions later. Now turn around and get to work on those boots.”

“What about my Miranda rights? Or the proposition that a man’s innocent until proven guilty?” he asked even as he followed orders and pivoted, presenting her with a view of his equally impressive backside.

But rather than shucking off his well-worn snakeskin Justins, he removed his shirt and slowly slid his belt through the loops, making a sensual striptease out of the movements.

The cotton fabric of Brandy’s T-shirt dampened, and her concentration started to wane. Not because the temperature was flirting with triple digits and the August sun had bullied every cloud from the sky. The blame rested on blue eyes that had messed with her thermostat.

She cleared her throat. “The arresting officer will read you your rights. For now, I’d get to work on those boots if I were you.”

“You want to separate me from my boots, you’re going to have to do it yourself.” His back still to her, he planted his scuffed heels firmly on the cabin’s splintered porch boards and glanced over his shoulder.

“On the other hand, if you’re really interested in seeing what’s under my jeans, I’m all yours, Honey. I do love a redneck woman.”

Her heart hammered against the fabric of the particular T-shirt she wished she hadn’t selected that morning, which was clinging to her chest like shrink wrap. The Gretchen Wilson song title had made her laugh out loud when she’d come across the tee on the bargain table at the Goodwill store, and because it was a ridiculously outrageous tag for Brandy Wilcox, she’d bought it as a joke.

As she pondered her purchase mistake of the year, wind-tossed grit scratched her throat. Expelling a slow, controlled breath, she dipped into the pocket of her jeans for her cell phone. “You have the right to remain silent in the face of any questions that might be put to you.” With hardly a waver in her voice, she added, “Do you understand?”

For untold sun-blistered seconds, he exercised his right to remain silent. She steadied the rifle, her finger alongside the trigger, and flipped her phone open with her free hand. Glanced down to read the screen. The blank, dead screen.

In the pristine silence, the sound of a zipper rasped.

Lord. Way too much sinewy, masculine muscle made her insides twist. The heat index rose to equator level. Before Mr. Totally Ripped revealed the answer to the age old question “boxers or briefs,” Brandy choked out, “Hold it right there.”

Jeans hanging low on his hips, he swiveled and faced her. “So, Brandy, what are you doing roaming around out here all by yourself?”

She narrowed her eyes and tightened her grip on the rifle. “Maintaining my sharp-shooter’s status.”

A muscle in his cheek twitched. “Maybe you should put down that rifle before you accidentally kill someone. Namely me. It would be ill advised for a deputy to shoot a suspect merely on probable cause. That could get said deputy in a lot of trouble. Guaranteed.”

“If I take you down, Mister, it won’t be any accident, and it won’t necessarily kill you.”

His tongue played sexily over the sweat collecting on the indentation above his upper lip. “You’re that good, huh?”

Double entendre intended—she was sure. Definitely too sexy for his Stetson.

“Good enough to put a hole in your hat and a crease in your skull without turning you into a pulseless, non-breathing suspect. I don’t think you want to chance that. It would smart a whole lot. Guaranteed.”

“That’s some mighty big talk for such a little lady.” The grin that tilted the corner of his mouth irritated more than intimidated her.

“A little lady with a big gun that could put a crease just about anywhere I choose.” She lowered the barrel of the rifle and set her aim in the vicinity of his zipper. “That’d smart a whole lot more. Absolutely guaranteed.”

It warmed her heart when he came to his senses and reined in his smile.

About the Author:

Mal Olson writes adrenaline kicked romantic suspense. She enjoys skydiving, ski jumping, SCUBA, hang gliding, big wave surfing, car racing, mountain climbing—that is, vicariously through her characters, who are always kick-ass, and often boss her around rather than allowing her to spin her stories the way she intends. (She did, however, personally engage in zip lining this past summer.)

Her debut novel Shadow of Deceit, released by The Wild Rose Press in 2012, is an edge of the seat romantic suspense-thriller set in Milwaukee and parts of northern Wisconsin. A couple of her favorite reviews came from Beverly at The Wormhole, who said, “Wow! This one has it all! Non-stop action, hot and sexy characters, betrayal, smokin’ romance, and a thrilling plot–” and Gothic Mom’s Book Review, which stated, “In the 150+ books that I read per year, there are very few that receive a five star rating. Shadow of Deceit did just that. Non stop action, sexual tension, an adventure that had me on the edge of my seat…A fantastic book that had me from page one…”

Olson also offers two short stories. Danger Zone, which has spent months in the Kindle top 100 free romantic suspense category, is a guaranteed fifteen minute pulse pounder where two strangers survive a rock ‘n roll landing on an icy Milwaukee runway and chase a could-be terrorist into the danger zone. Me and Brad, a feel good romance, features an irresistible K-9 and was ranked in the Kindle free top 100 list for months in the Contemporary Romance category.
