Tabitha Quinn’s Hawaii vacation was anything but ordinary. Dominant billionaire Marcus Granger saved her life, swept her into his bed, and then left her heartbroken. Now she’s back in New York, mourning the man she’s sure she’ll never see again.

Marcus may have left handprints on her skin, but Tabitha’s left handprints on his heart: he tracks her down, and they resume the sizzling affair they began in the islands.

Tabitha belongs to Marcus body and soul in bed, but she worries she doesn’t belong in his high-stakes world. They’ve already dodged a murder attempt, and now Marcus is fighting off a competitor’s takeover. When the rival company obtains critical information, suspicion falls on Tabitha. She has to prove she’s innocent–and worthy to wear Marcus’s collar.

Author Guest:

Welcome Malia Mallory!

Thank you Gillian for hosting me! I’m told today is Tied Up Tuesday….so I picked something appropriate to our theme.

My newest release is entitled His Desire, Her Surrender. It is the second book in a series and the sequel to His Need, Her Desire. The lines are taken out of context, but I think you can use your imagination to figure out what might be happening.

1.  “I’ve had a vision in my head of you tied to the bedpost.”

2.  Tabitha reached out and handled the loops. They were soft on the surface. Thick, velvet fabric padded the strong line within.

3.  He looped it around her waist, up between her breasts, and over her shoulder, pulling it snug.

4.  This bondage didn’t compare to the handcuffs they’d used before. It encompassed her whole body, heightening her feeling of submission.

5.  The bonds held her securely, but she didn’t struggle. She’d never envisioned herself like this. Never. She looked ripe, ready, sexy.

Which is your favorite?

#3 is definitely my fave!

Excerpt:

Marcus tapped his stomach. “I don’t know about you, but I’m getting hungry. If you fix something, I’ll reward you later. Deal?”

“Sure.” Tabitha pulled chicken from the refrigerator as Marcus left her to find her way around the kitchen. She planned to cook something quick and easy on the stovetop. She located onions, chopped them and tossed them into a sauté pan. Further searching turned up rice and spices. A little saffron and cardamom and she’d have something tasty.

Once everything was in the pan, she tracked down the makings of a salad. That would do, she thought, chicken and rice with salad. Simple but appetizing.

As she set the table, Marcus reappeared, towels in hand. “I thought you might want one for sitting.” He spread one on the chair at the head of the table and the other on the chair to the side.

Tabitha handed Marcus the salad bowl. “This whole nudity thing. I’m not sure if I’d get used to it. Might get chilly.”

Marcus stole a carrot slice out of the salad and tossed it in his mouth. “I imagine so. But it can be a fun change of pace.”

“Yes.” Tabitha brought the chicken and rice to the table, and they settled in.

Marcus gazed on the food with appreciation. “This is great. I’m starving.”

“I hope you like it. I make it quite often.”

Marcus placed one hand on her thigh as he took a bite with the other.

Tabitha’s fork stopped in mid-air as heat flooded her. She was glad for the towel underneath her. The last thing she wanted was to stain the upholstery.

Marcus massaged her skin and slid his hand between her thighs.

Tabitha set down her fork. “Marcus!”

He continued eating. “Yes?”

“I can’t eat when you do that.”

“You can’t?” He took another bite of chicken, clearly enjoying it. His fingers searched her intimate recesses.

Tabitha pursed her lips, displaying an amused frown. “No. I’m too distracted.”

“Mmm. That is unfortunate. This meal is wonderful.”

“It’s hard to think about eating right now.”

Marcus maintained his innocent air while he explored her moistening skin. “Really? I’m having no trouble at all.” He ingested another bite.

My Review:

My Rating: 5 Stars

Combine a sexy billionaire, a sassy sub, super hot sex scenes, a dash of corporate intrigue, and a romantic HEA, and you have this fantastic story!

I was super excited to spend more time with Marcus and Tabitha. After the first book, their relationship seemed to have so much potential, and this book proves it. I enjoyed witnessing their chemistry as they grow as a couple and as Dom and sub, battle insecurities, learn to trust, and truly cement their feelings for one another. Both are believable characters, down-to-earth and relatable (even with Marcus’ extreme wealth). The story of their relationship has just enough heart-felt emotion and drama to keep it interesting, without too much angst. The real heat between this couple is in bedroom (or most any room they may happen to be in): the sex scenes are original, well-written, and super steamy, including a beautifully detailed bondage scene involving velvet covered rope that I just loved. The sex is deliciously kinky without being too edgy.

This story has it all, interesting characters, an engaging plot, great sex scenes, and a satisfying romance. It does not need to be read with the first book, but I highly recommend them both!

He tapped into her most secret needs- her desire to be taken and tamed. She wasn’t a masochist. She wasn’t in to pain. But the sting of the paddle combined with surrender of control opened her mind and body to limitless pleasure. She yearned to feel it again. She’d never imagined that connections like she found with Marcus existed.”

About the Book:

Doctorate in hand, Jane Ann Summers is ready to return to the South Seas paradise of her youth, when the director of the institute—her mother—drops a bomb. She cannot return until she experiences more of life…a social life.

Determined to waste no time, Jane searches for a shortcut and discovers the 1Night Stand dating service. A single night with geologist Dr. Lukas Gerard, and she can go home and get on with her fascinating study of world weather trends. The only question is whether to have sex with him…after all, it would be her first, and maybe only, time.

Lukas’s own field of study has shown him some alarming trends. He believes a killer earthquake may rattle the western half of the United States in the near future. In preparation, he converts an abandoned gold mine to a secret bunker, loaded with supplies and all the comforts of home. Only thing he needs now is company in his hideaway. Unsure how to find the right companion, he turns to 1Night Stand, but neither he nor Jane are prepared for the sudden impact of one of Madame Eve’s connections.

One night teaches them there is more to life than science…for both of them.

My Review:

A ruggedly sexy, brilliantly intelligent, disaster prepping hero? Ummmm, YES PLEASE!

I love this story. It’s a quick read, and very well-written. I really appreciated the writing style: the story flowed so smoothly. The romance between the two main characters is sensual, sexy, and ultimately, hopeful. The author creates a sizzling chemistry in a short amount of time. Lukas is the exact right combination of protective strength and tenderness.

For me, a highlight of this story is the underground bunker that the bulk of the story takes place in. The author’s creation of this incredibly beautiful, and very useful, safe place is highly imaginative. That space and the irresistible Dr. Lukas Gerard have me wishing for the apocalypse!

“The man who stared down at her was not the urbane professor who had picked her up. Rather a god, a man of unlimited strength who could carry her through disasters and fears, who had built a fortress of safety and beauty inside the belly of the earth herself.

When he reached for her, she went to him, and put herself in his hands. She was living, for the first time.”

About the book:

Title: Ruining You (Ruining #2)

Author: Nicole Reed

Genre: New Adult

Release Date: Jan. 26, 2013

Pageflex Persona [document: PRS0000038_00071]

For a girl who dared to tempt death, living is the only promise that matters now. Jay’s life almost came to a forced end when her darkest secrets were revealed and the one who she chose to give her future to was ripped away. Now, everything she kept hidden is the topic of everyone’s conversation, and not all are sympathetic. Someone wants her horrific past to dictate her future, and another is determined to help her choose a different path. In conclusion to Ruining Me, Kane and Rhye know that Jay is worth the fight, but waiting for her to find herself may ruin them all.

My Review:

Ruining You is emotional, utterly heartbreaking, and beautifully romantic.

The second in the series, the book can easily be read as a stand-alone: Reed successfully weaves Jay’s backstory into her current life. Characters that are no longer with us for the second book, most notably JT,  are brought to life in dreams and flashbacks. We understand who they are and how they affect Jay’s life in the present along with the characters that are still in her life.

I cried so many tears reading this book. The author brings palpable emotions to the surface through Jay’s tragic past and her incredibly difficult journey towards healing and an uncertain future. I was swept up in her story and didn’t realize until the end how smoothly the author had guided Jay through a transition: so weak and broken at the beginning, and despite harrowing setbacks, so strong in the end.

The book has a little bit of everything, including romance and lust, courtesy of a couple of hot leading men. She has a choice to make, but it seems to me she has really no choice at all (though I myself may have chosen differently). In addition to her men, Jay has the support of friends and family to guide her towards strength and redemption. All of this, with a stunning climax, and the reward of a happily ever after, make this is a great read.

“You know what heaven feels like? It feels like two-hundred pounds of steel muscle wrapped around you with the most invigorating body smell that invaded every sense you have. It is the rythmic beating of his heart as it sounds in my ear. I grip his back, knowing he is really here. It’s the feeling of being safe, protected, and loved. It is everything I am feeling as I am shrouded securely in his arms. I want to hold on tight and never let go.”

Book Tour: Author Guest – RED ZONE by Sherri Hayes

February 14, 2013 Book Tour, Contemporary Romance, Guest Post, Romance 1

red zone blog banner

Happy Valentine’s Day everyone! A little romance to heat up your day…

Welcome to the Red Zone by Sherri Hayes book tour! Today I have a guest spot with the author. She is sharing with us what hottie quarterback Gage would do for Rebecca on Valentines day…

Sherri:

Gage would want to spoil Rebecca, but knowing how uncomfortable she would be if he went overboard, I see him surprising her. He’d take her to a fancy hotel, and then he’d try to cover her eyes as they made their way up to one of the hotel suites.

The entire suite would be set up with flowers, but not too many. She wouldn’t like that. He’d make sure there were just enough to let her know how special she is without overwhelming her.

Not far from the bank of windows overlooking the city, a table would be set up with their dinner. He would go out of his way to be a gentleman, and pull out her chair before taking his seat. They would share a private dinner together, and follow it up with a little dancing.

After that, they’d retire to the bedroom where Gage would have set up with more flowers and a few candles. Again, nothing too over the top.

He’d spend the next couple of hours showing her just how much she means to him before wrapping her in his arms and falling asleep, whispering “Happy Valentine’s Day, beautiful.”

Me: *sigh*

About the book:

After a case ended badly for Rebecca Carson, she’s losing her mind sitting around her apartment waiting on her superiors to allow her to return to work. Since she was a teenager, the only thing she’d ever wanted was to join the FBI. Now that dream was in danger.

Gage Daniels has made a pretty good life for himself. A nice house. A career he loves. As a professional football player, he’s used to getting almost everything he’d ever want with just the snap of his fingers. This includes women. A well-timed smile is usually all it takes to attract the opposite sex, especially in Nashville.

When a stalker threatens Gage, the team owner calls an old friend, Rebecca’s ex-partner Travis Hansen, to help protect his star quarterback and find the person responsible. Hansen offers Rebecca the job, and she jumps at the chance. It’s work, and it will get her out of her apartment. How bad can it be?

Posing as Gage’s girlfriend, however, isn’t as easy as it seems. The man is relentless. Rebecca must work to protect Gage while staving off his advances. She’s there to do a job, nothing more. The last thing she wants is to be another notch on a hotshot athlete’s belt.

As the stalker continues to up the ante, Rebecca finds it harder and harder to keep her distance from Nashville’s star quarterback. He isn’t what she expected in one of the city’s most notorious playboys. Now all she has to do is keep him safe until they can find his stalker, and hope she doesn’t lose her heart in the process.

Title: Finding Mercy (A Prepper Romance)

Author: D.L. Jackson

Publisher: Decadent Publishing

Release Date: December 22, 2012

My Rating: 5 Stars

You’ll die in three minutes without oxygen, three hours without shelter, three days without water and three weeks without food. But could you live a lifetime with a broken heart?

Mercy Evans has come to Evans Point hoping to collect herself and find a way to resurrect her career as an anchorwoman for Cheyenne’s news station. Sergeant Justin Redway has come to Evans Point to try to forget his past and survive all he’s done.

One is a battle-damaged veteran, the other a desperate woman who will go to any extreme to get his story. When their worlds collide, sparks fly and old wounds open. As the chasm between the fated lovers widens, it might be too big to cross.

One town, two lovers, and a second chance at finding mercy.

My Review:

I love this book! *Note: I have a slight obsession with “Prepping” and combine that with a sexy romance, and I’m one happy girl 🙂

Set among the backdrop of a beautiful and remote Wyoming town, this romance has so many intriguing elements: a war hero, a troubled newscaster, and a community of Doomsday preppers.

At the heart of the story is Justin and Mercy’s romance. Their undeniable chemistry leads them to a no-strings-attached relationship; though they quickly realize they mean much more to each other. Their story of sacrifice, love, and redemption is multi-layered, emotional and well-written. Each incredibly strong in their own way, Justin and Mercy must make difficult choices and sacrifices in order to be together, find peace, and become who they truly want to be.

The intriguing subplot of potential Doomsday, heart-pounding action, and Mercy and Justin’s spicy sexual attraction and ultimately sweet romance combine to make this a creative and throughly enjoyable read.

Book Review: A SONG FOR JULIA by Charles Sheehan-Miles

Title: A Song for Julia (Thompson Sisters)

Author: Charles Sheehan-Miles

Publisher: Cincinnatus Press

Release Date: December 2, 2012

Rating: 5+ Stars

Everyone should have something to rebel against.

Crank Wilson left his South Boston home at sixteen to start a punk band and burn out his rage at the world. Six years later, he’s still at odds with his father, a Boston cop, and doesn’t ever speak to his mother. The only relationship that really matters is with his younger brother, but watching out for Sean can be a full-time job. The one thing Crank wants in life is to be left the hell alone to write his music and drive his band to success.

Julia Thompson left a secret behind in Beijing that exploded into scandal in Washington, DC, threatening her father’s career and dominating her family’s life. Now, in her senior year at Harvard, she’s haunted by a voice from her past and refuses to ever lose control of her emotions again, especially when it comes to a guy.

When Julia and Crank meet at an anti-war protest in Washington in the fall of 2002, the connection between them is so powerful it threatens to tear everything apart.

 My Review:

Brilliant, heart-wrenching, and completely captivating, A Song for Julia is a poignant tale of love, family, healing and redemption.

Julia and Crank each have their own interesting story to tell, but put them together and it is the perfect storm. Intrigue, intense emotion, and undeniable chemistry define this unlikely couple. They are both relatable, multi-dimensional characters, complete with strengths, flaws, difficult pasts, and hopeful futures. The author uses both characters to narrate the story, transitioning seamlessly from one perspective to the other: quite a task when they each possess a completely unique voice.  Theirs is not an easy relationship: it is difficult, messy, and beautiful.

Crank and Julia’s story is not the only highlight of the book. They have lives outside their relationship. These sub-plots and the secondary cast of characters make the story rich and vibrant; the author brings to life the nuances of complicated families and friendships. These relationships are an integral part of the characters, adding another element to this already compelling story.

The truth is, I have trouble finding the words to properly describe how I feel about this book. I absolutely love it. It is why I read books. I was completely overcome by the intense emotion and left tearful and breathless at the conclusion. In Crank and Julia’s story, the author reminds us that sometimes an unlikely person becomes the most important person, the one who changes everything, the reason we are able to finally become who we are meant to be.

“ ‘I don’t want to be to be one of your conquests. I don’t want to be another fucking girl getting screwed- someone your bandmates say was a horrible scene the next morning.’

‘I like it when you say ‘fucking’.’

I closed my eyes. ‘You’re impossible.’

 ‘That’s why you love me.’

‘I do not love you. I don’t even like you.’

‘You will,’ he said, his voice low and luscious. I could feel the vibration of that voice from my ears all the way down to my feet.

‘Maybe,’ I whispered. ‘But not tonight.’ “

Have you ever woken up every day afraid of everything?

For single mom and widow Melody Carter, six months passed since an IED ripped her life apart. Everyone is sympathetic and offers platitudes of comfort and support. Everyone thinks they know why she’s grieving but Melody isn’t mourning her broken heart. She’s ashamed to be grateful her abusive husband won’t hurt her anymore and scared for her child. Born with a mild heart defect, her daughter needs lifesaving surgery and with her funds tight and her emotional scars tighter, she’s running out of options. When she receives an offer for assistance from Mike’s Place, can Melody put her faith in the men her husband called friend?

Have you ever woken up, day after day, to discover your body’s betrayal?

Marine Captain, Joe Anderson Cooper, received the Silver Star for Valor when he led his unit through heavy fire to rescue fellow Marines. Despite numerous injuries, the Captain refused medical aid, insisting that the medics attend others. A broken back and shattered bones put Captain Cooper in a wheelchair and every day is a battle to keep his recovery on track and his sanity intact. When a single mom moves in to the apartment next door to his and he recognizes a kindred—damaged—soul, can he overcome her fear and be the man she’s always needed?

Can these two lonely souls rise to the challenge or will their scars trap them forever?

My Review:

This story of a Marine meeting a nearly broken woman, helping her to heal and move on from her past, and ultimately finding love with her hit incredibly close to home for me.

It is beautifully written and deeply emotional, with characters that demand the reader’s devoted attention. Melody’s story is absolutely heart-breaking, but the author gives her such strength, even in her devastating vulnerability. She clings to the edge, finding hope in small places. When Joe comes in to her life, she sees someone who finally may catch her if she can’t hold on any longer. Joe is the perfect leading man, strong, supportive, handsome, and kind.

I was completely captivated by Melody and Joe’s story. It is devastating, touching, and heart-warming; two people finding light in complete darkness. I loved that that they took the necessary time to heal themselves before coming together as a couple. I cried more than a few tears for these characters and rejoiced at their eventual happy ending. I absolutely love this book 🙂
